GUIDELINES for SUBMISSION

Guidelines for Submission: An introduction to submitting original works to the Embroiled News Blog. Information for writers, poets, artist and photographers. The Embroiled News was first published in 1995 as a bi-monthly journal to promote the creativity of local poets and writers in our small community. With the innovation of the Internet, we decided to take a big leap and successfully made the transition into the 21'st. Century's electronic age. We are also extending the same invitation and commitments we once made in 1995 to all artistic and creative visionaries. If you are an artist, photographer, writer, poet or a creative person, please consider sharing your written thoughts or visual work with us, and the rest of the world. There is no cost to you, nor will you be awarded a grand monetary prize. Yet the contribution you will make will continue to stimulate others while keeping alive that spark of creativity which of late has been dimming. Take a moment to consider sharing your creativity, you will be glad you did, and so will countless others.

Editor-in-chief

P.S. : One last thing, "NO FAKE NEWS ALLOWED!"

SWIFT ~ STUDIO e-Mail gets to us faster!

Here's my personal invitation for submitting your original works to ALL artists, photographers, writers and poets.
Briefly, what it’s absolutely essential to help promote your work, we would need from artists or photographers six to twelve pictures or photographs about your latest creations. We will later post and rotate the pictures on an intermittent basis. For writers and poets I am suggesting that your submitted work should not exceed two thousand characters or about one full-typed page. One rule of thumb is to set your word processor program to Verdana 12 fonts and type the full page. Submit by email the final draft and we will evaluate it for publication in the Embroiled News.

A- Must, enter your name or initials if you are the creator of the work; include the state and country of origin. Your postal and e-Mail address will also be needed for our records and correspondence, but it will never be disclosed to a third party. B- Submitted items must have a title or ID number for identification purposes. C- Must, give very brief information about yourself or briefly explain how the work was achieved--mentioned the material used, technique, or type of photo equipment, film etc. For writers and poets, as an alternative to your brief bio, perhaps mention what has inspired you to write the current work. D- Optional: listing your E-mail address -- This is added with the intent that someone will directly contact you and generate a sale transaction or comment. There are still a lot of good people out there in the world, some of them will even respond when they see or read something that will move their inner feelings. Art and the eloquent written word still does that to us humans if we give others the trust and chance to communicate. We will however, not be your intermediary with the public at large; you can also be assured that we will not abuse your privacy and e-Mail address. Nor do we charge a commission for any sales derived from the exposure on our presentation.

Now comes the technical stuff, . . . but it's all good! 1> Participants can use any type of camera to take black and white or color pictures. We only accept digital pictures sent to us by e-Mail. I also encourage to periodically send new material thus keeping your posted work rotated and "fresh." 2> Please send pictures not larger than 200 Kb.; not smaller than 600 x 600 pix or bigger than 1024 x 768 pix. NOTE: pictures will be posted not larger than 450 px. wide. 3> Digital Retouching or manipulation of images is accepted provided the entire work is original and not a copy of someone else work in whole or in part. 4> Writers and poets please submit your work via e-Mail; each title should be not longer than 2000 characters or about one full-typed page. Depending on the length of each piece, I will post up to three titles. I also encourage you to send new material thus keeping your posted work rotated and "fresh." 5> You can always update your personal information by contacting us with the convenient Embroiled News Blog SWIFT ~ e-Mail. 6> We reserve the right to not accept or remove any content from our blog /web site pages that is offensive or unlawful. With regards to questionable items deemed by some of our guests who are of the opinion that artistic nudes are pornographic, we can only respond by quoting the opinion the American jurist Potter Stewart, who served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1958–1981): "I know it when I see it[.]" He said. However what is usually dropped from the complete quote by those who are often against any, nudity, is the remainder of the sentence which states: "...and the motion picture involved in this case is not that." – Jacobellis v. Ohio (1964). Thus the opinion of the noted jurist Potter Stewart is clearly understood when said in its entirety: "I know it when I see it and the motion picture involved in this case is not that." 7> Participants must be at least 18 years of age; if younger they must have a signed given consent from a patent or guardian. 8> Entrants must provide Giovanni Craftsman Studio and the Embroiled News with a live and updated e-mail address to which notifications can be sent or contacted by others in conjunction with the sale of their work. We will also need your postal address to be part of our record, while these items of information will never to be shared with a third party.
