Alligator Hunting
in South Florida
By Jacob Jarjoura
This short story documents my first time experience hunting alligators in south Florida.
Alligators are smarter than you think. You take a look at them and expect them to be dumb lizards. This however is not the case.
When hunting, one of the first important lessons I learned is that there is a major difference between a captive alligator and a wild alligator. A captive alligator, while dangerous if riled, is mostly docile and lethargic. This is the alligator most people often encounter. They tend to be thick and look intimidating due to their size. A wild alligator is skinny, fast, explosive, and more intelligent than a captive alligator. They had to earn every bit of ground, may it be fighting rivals, finding food, or just surviving humans.
The body of a wild alligator is entirely different from a captive one. A ten foot captive alligator. . .
This is an exiting alligator hunting story in the Florida Everglade. Read every details by the young author and hunter who has experienced nature at its primitive level.
